She doesn't care or know much about fashion at all, but both she and my mother asked me to help style her. I figured that the best way to go would be to get a nice dress that she could wear for occasions other than prom that isn't the frumpy stuff she normally wears.

Is it not appropriate to wear a black dress to prom? I figured that my sister would not only be more comfortable in a simple dark dress, but it'd also stand out amid all the tulle and sequins, heh.

Even if it doesn't end up being her dress (sizing issues...), I definitely have my eye on it.

I don't know the standards in the US but here in canada black is ok. It's not a summer color but it's stil pretty elegant! Even in weddings where it used to be bad omen material and superstitions it's totally fine now.

I wore a draped all-black dress to my prom, and that was when everyone dressed like giant pastel cupcakes.

Ah prom, cue 12th graders in Tuxedo matching their date with yellow pocket square, yellow boutonniere, yellow tie, and yellow vest. It's so fucking ridiculous- they don't even look good and their date is like "YOU HAVE TO MATCH!"

On the plus side, they're probably getting laid.
